Privacy policy

Last updated October 27, 2026.

This policy explains what information Skywatch Ledger ("we," "us," the "site") collects when you visit skywatchledger.com and how it's used.

Information we collect

We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't collect your name, email address or other personal details unless you choose to give them to us. The UFO checker runs entirely in your browser; your answers aren't sent to us or stored.

Like most websites, our hosting provider (GitHub Pages) and content delivery services may automatically log technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and the pages you visit. We use this only to keep the site running and secure.

Cookies and advertising

This site may show ads served by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. Where required by law, such as in the European Economic Area and the UK, you'll be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.

Embedded media and links

Videos and images in the Evidence Room are loaded from Wikimedia Commons, which may receive standard technical information from your browser when they load. Links to other websites are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.

Email newsletter

If we offer a newsletter and you sign up, we'll use your email address only to send that newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. We don't sell or rent email addresses.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and the retailer may set cookies to track the referral.

Skywatch Ledger is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal information about you; since we collect almost none directly, most requests will relate to our advertising and hosting partners, whose policies are linked above.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version.
